We
found three Drumkeeran townlands - Drumkeeran Beg, Black and More.
From the 1841 census we know that William
& Jane JOHNSTON
were living in Drumkeeran
with their children, Elizabeth and Robert George.
The Presbyterian Historical Society records show that Robert George JOHNSTON
was baptised in the Drumkeeran Presbyterian Church on the 1st December 1839.
The Drumkeeran Church was built in 1790.
Kenneth Fleming was able to show us over the
Church and also
took us to the JOHNSTON house which is now in ruins.
This "Thorn Tree" (centre) is very
old and was planted by the back gate,
perhaps when our family lived in the house.
The views from the house are breathtaking, especially to think that they are the same views that my Great Great Grandparents looked out upon over 150 years ago.
